ELECRAMA-2012 scheduled to be held during Jan-2012 in Mumbai

MUMBAI: ELECRAMA-2012, which is an electrical transmission and distribution equipment exhibition, is being organised by Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA) during January 2012 here. It will be attracting more than 4,000-foreign buyers from across the globe.
The foreign buyers consist of procurement officials from power utility companies, power equipment/technology marketing companies and consultants eyeing to source from India and also other nations.
At a preview of ELECRAMA-2012, which was held here recently for foreign diplomats in India, has witnessed the attendance by representatives of over 50 nations. It was also declared that with the support of the Department of Commerce, a Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM) called Change X change for Indian SMEs is being organised by IEEMA concurrently with ELECRAMA-2012. Under this event, more than 350-foreign buyers from Africa, Latin America, CIS, and ASEAN nations will be hosted.
Mr Ramesh Chandak, President IEEMA, has stated that to sustain the annual GDP growth rate of 8 to 9 per cent in the next 20 years, it has been projected that India will be needing to raise its electricity generation capacity by almost five times, from almost 180 GW currently to more than 8800 GW by 2032. he has further said that it would be needing matching upgradation and also boosting of the electricity transmission and distribution (T&D) sector.
